My first Cubs game!

Was so excited last night to attend my first Cubs game. Ideally wanted to go on a Saturday so I could really experience the whole bar scene with it but still had a great time, and drank equally as much.

We had tickets to see them play Washington Nationals.

Have to admit though, was not really sure about what was going on in the game itself, except when the ball came flying into the crowd and we had to chant "throw it back, throw it back" or "North Field sucks". And also was very excited to take part in my first seventh-inning stretch where everyone gets up and sings "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"!!

Even when the game ended I didn't realise lol. Had to ask Carrie who had won. Surprise surprise Cubs lost 3-1 to the Washington Nationals!

What was very cool though is that Wrigley Field is one of only 2 stadiums (I believe) where the scoreboard is still manually operated, with scores coming in through a computer (a ticker tape machine was used in the past); a number turner watches the score changes closely, and updates scores by manually replacing the numbers from within the scoreboard.

But it seems the biggest thing about a Cubs
game really is the atmosphere, the experience
and the DRINKING!

Next time my mission is going to be securing tickets to
one of the rooftop spots:

Last day at Lollapalooza....Down came the rain!!!

Last day of Lollapalooza yesterday sadly! It was another great day, although the weather...not so great!

We started out as another scorcher. during the morning we checked out Noah and the Whale, City and Colour (notice the spelling of 'colour' they are Canadian!) and Flogging Molly.

Then it was on to the 'Uncorked' Lounge where we secured ourselves a sports bottle of Estancia wine (sorry guys, but only in the States!)

Then, the sky turned black LOL...

But there was no way I was letting rain ruin watching the Arctic Monkeys, who (despite the delay due the the weather) were fantastic!

The rain stopped and the Arctic Monkeys rocked!

And when they came on stage, we all thought it was the end of the rain:

Beautiful rainbow!

But we spoke too soon...

Although it was cold and wet. it was almost the perfect end to an amazing weekend - when are next year's tickets on sale!!??

Lollapalooza day 2...Muddy!!

We knew it would be a difficult task to beat the day we had on Friday, but yesterday was great (on a different scale). It took us a while to recover from Friday but once we got our second wind it was fantastic. Not sure the bands during the day were anywhere near as good but Eminem as the headliner absolutely rocked it!

One downer of the day though was the mud! Not quite sure when and how much it rained but the park was gross - and for reason spelt of manure!

My sandals and feet were wrecked:

Also discovered a new band - which is what this is all about - Fitz and the Tantrums. I have to credit them for getting us in the mood (after a heavy night) to PARTAAY!!

The crowd at Fitz and the Tantrums

Have to give my thumbs down unfortunately to the Deftones. Was excited to see them but not sure if it was them or the sound...sounded awful :(

Eminem on the other hand was incredible - great way to end the night...

And the best moment was when Bruno Mars came on to perform with Eminem...

These guys obviously had a good time ha ha (we feel your pain guys!):

And best outfits of the day go to:

Snooky wannabes:

And Tangoman!

2 down, 1 to go!!

Day 1 Lollapalooza - 1 word AWESOME!

OMG, Lollapalooza rocks. First day down and I'm not sure today and tomorrow will live up to the same standards!!!

Best acts of the day by far were Young the Giant (who I only heard for the first time this week and now in love with), Tinie Tempah (excluding the crazy crowd surfer), Afrojack and Coldplay!

The special effects for Coldplay were out of this world:

AND it didn't stop! After Coldplay, we headed over to Subterranean for the Tinie Tempah and Young the Giant aftershow and it was the best night ever. The venue was tiny so we were up front and even managed to get on the stage for Tinie!

Hanging with Young the Giant!

Could I get any closer to Tinie!! Brrrr--uppp!

Me and Jamie hanging with Sameer from Young the Giant

The filming (by me) is horrendous but had to give people a sample of how great these guys are!

And who can forget Mr T:

Topshop....its coming Chicago, get ready!!

Soooo excited. Not long until Topshop opens up in Chicago on Michigan Avenue (Fall 2011). Will be interesting to see how they are pricing everything as I think the one in New York is marked up because of it being an import!?

You call that a Smartie?

Just got very excited when I heard one of my clients had brought in 'Smarties'. Smarties always remind me of when I was younger. Getting covered in different colours, collecting the lids (which always had a different letter on), making art with them at school!!

Low and behold however, I was not presented with a yummy multicoloured chocolate treat (see above) but this impostor...!

Now, don't get me wrong, these are a tasty little pack of sweets. In fact I would describe them as the non sour version of love hearts (even without the soppy messages) but c'mon! What will they think of next! It seems I need to delve deeper into the U.S candy/sweets world...it's a tough job, but someone has to do it!

Street Festivals...Taste of Lincoln Avenue

In Chicago in the summer they have lots of street festivals which is such a great idea! I'm honestly not sure if we do the same in the U.K? If we don't then we should!! We have a little french/farmers market near me but that's about it as far as I know (besides the big festivals like Glastonbury, V Festival etc).

So the street fest I went to is called Taste of Lincoln Avenue - takes place in Lincoln Park between Fullerton and Wrightswood streets. The entrance fee is an optional $10 which goes to charity - so if you wanted to be tight, you could go for nothing!

There are bands, food, bars - everything you would need for a fun day out! I went with my friend Jamie and what started as a 1-2 drink day ended up with beer, sangria, shots you name it...FUN!

I would definitely recommend if you are new to Chicago to attend one. There are so many people there and if you are confident person I am sure you would make friends.

So, highlights of the day...I tried my first ever corn dog PLUS a deep fried Twinkie! You would not believe what they were offering deep friend! Twinkies, Snickers and...Oreos!

Corn dog...yum. Basically a battered frankfurter!

Me and the deep fried Twinkie!

Example of the U.S healthy food on offer...

Could you possibly deep fry any more!!!??
